The third Labour Sports Tournament, organised by the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, has continued its successful competitions, with the participation of 120 teams competing on the playgrounds of the Sharjah National Park, in five games: football, basketball, volleyball, hockey and cricket.
Competitions of the fourth week witnessed intensified in the football matches, in which 30 teams distributed in 6 groups were competing to qualify for the last 16 round of the tournament. Of each group, the first and second will qualify, in addition to the best of the four thirds.
Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, attended the competitions, and praised the level in the fourth week, making it one of the strongest tournaments in the technical level of the teams in the five games of the tournament. He also praised the good efforts made by the organisers, comes in line with the good reputation of the Emirate of Sharjah in organizing and hosting sports events at all levels.
As for the results, the strong football matches resulted in the ADNOC A team leading the first group with 9 points after its victory over Falcon Pak 3-1, coming before the team of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which came second with 6 points after its victory over the United Arab Bank team with a large score of 15-1, and with the same score the Falcon Pak team finished third from two wins and two losses.
Fast Building Contracting team led the second group with 7 points after defeating Sharjah Cement with 10 – 0. Second in the group came Reach Target team with the same balance by defeating Al Furat Group 3-0. Coming third was the Hamriyah Municipality team with 6 points.
National Paints led the third group with 7 points after a tie in the fourth week with the Identity and Citizenship 2-2, followed by Biz Link team in the second place with a score of 6 points after beating Smart Touch 3-0, then third cam Smart Touch with the same balance 6 points.
In the fourth group competitions, the Civil Defense team led with 9 points after its big victory over Sharjah Municipality team 11-1, followed by Prosmart in the second place with 7 points by a draw with DP World 2-2, followed by the European Union for Contracting with 4 points.
In the fifth group, the Sharjah Police team took the lead with 8 points, drawing in the fourth week with the Al-Mumayz team for monitoring systems with two goals for each team, and secondly, the Social Services Department team with 5 points after drawing 2-2 with Al Hijil for Insurance which came third with 4 points.
As for the sixth group, it was led by Fast “B” team with 9 points, despite losing the fourth week’s match against Enjaaz 1-2, which finished second with 6 points, and behind it was shipping and discharge third with 3 points.
The basketball competition, which witnessed a strong competition, resulted in the Fast Building Contracting team winning a difficult match over Sharjah Squad 70-69; Afebl over the Comrades 51-46; the UAA team beat Al Abyadth 84-78; Falcon Pack won over Net Rippers by default. Bisdak team beat Al Hamriya team 62-50 and DP World over Sharjah Coop 92-46.
In volleyball competitions, the fourth round matches resulted in the victory of Success Team over Falcon Pak 2-0, and by the same result, Heat Shield defeated Sharjah Cements.
On the other hand, the cricket competitions continued, and the fourth round witnessed the victory of Al Saud team over Bee’ah, the Sharjah Municipality team “A” over the JRCC team, the University of Sharjah defeated the United Arab Bank and the United Kaup team over Falcon Pak.
In the hockey, Falcons Green defeated the SHJ Tiger Indian Black 3-0, and Lacnor defeated the SHJ Tiger Green 3-0 in two games, SHJ Tiger Blue over UTSC 3-0, and Ecciptors beat the SHJ Tiger Indian Blue 3-0.
