Faizan Ali claimed five wickets and Waqas Ali played a superb knock of 75 runs as Gulf International defeated Saudi German Hospital by 114 runs in a Rashid Alleem Premier League (RPL) match held at the Al Dhaid Ground in Sharjah on Saturday.
Gulf International opted to bat first after winning the toss. They were off to a disastrous start after suffering blows. Gulf International were struggling after losing four wickets with just 35 runs on the board.
Skipper Haji Mohammed Merchant and Waqas revived their innings. Merchat scored unbeaten 31 and Waqas smashed 75 off 38 balls studded with seven bounadaries and six huge sixes.
Later, Adnan Akhtar hit quick-fire 39 to help Gulf International post 195 for the loss of six wickets from the allotted 20 overs.
Saudi German Hospital were all out for 81 runs in 15.2 overs. Except Arshad (41) and Zubair (11) none of their batsmen could manage to reach the double figures.
Faizan took five wickets from his spell of four over while giving away just three runs. After shining from bat, Waqas created magic in bowling also. He grabbed three wickets and was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
Al Tanmyah ATS registered an easy 123 runs win over Xerox Middle East.
Batting first, Al Tanmyah ATS scored 181 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Ghalib Ali (61), Farhan Butt (38) and Atif Aslam (23) were among the runs for Al Tanmyah ATS.
Later, they restricted Xerox Middle East to 58. In another match, ABB beat Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank by 67 runs. They scored 199 and later restricted Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank to 132.
Emirates Islamic defeated Nestle by two wickets in a close match.
72 teams are taking part in fifth edition of the Rashid Alleem Premier League, the biggest corporate cricket tournament of the GCC.
