Riding high on Abubakar Siddique’s unbeaten knock of 82, Geco Blue beat Sharjah Cement by 68 runs in a Rashid Alleem Premier League (RPL) match held at the Al Dhaid Ground in Sharjah on Sunday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Geco Blue were off to a perfect start as their openers Bharatt Jethhwa and Waqas Tariq shared a 69-run stand.
Jethhwa scored 24 while Tariq hit 53. Later, Siddique hit Sharjah Cement bowlers all over the ground. He smashed 82 off 49 balls studded with six boundaries and four sixes. He was well supported by skipper Syed Danish, who added quick-fire 29.
Geco Blue posted 198 for the loss of three wickets from the allotted 20 overs.
They restricted Sharjah Cement to 130. Prajeesh K (57) and skipper Selvam (27) were among the runs. Geco Blue’s Siddique was named man of the match.
Sayed Tousif, Yaser Bajwa claimed two wickets each and Muhammad Waseem scored 31 as Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) thrashed DNJ B by seven wickets.
Suffering blows after losing early wickets, DNJ B post 94 for the loss of nine wickets.
In reply, Sewa chased down the target in 12.5 overs. Waseem (31) and H, Nabbi (30) were their top scorers.
Emirates Engineering Blue defeated Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) by 67 runs. Opting to bat first after calling the coin correctly, Emirates Engineering Blue scored 174 for the loss of four wickets.
Ganesh (51), Sabu EK (46) and Farrukh Zubair (36) helped them to reach the competitive total.
In reply, Sharjah Airport Travel Agency were all out for 107.
In another match, Muhammad Farooq bagged four wickets as Scan B thumped Emircom by nine wickets.
Scan B first bowled out Emircom for 94 and later reached the target in just 10 overs.
