The much-anticipated Desert Warrior Challenge Dubai returns for its sixth edition in the UAE with the obstacle course race set to take place at Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve on Feb.14.
Homegrown obstacle course is returning for 2020 with a blockbuster line-up of obstacles and eager Warriors ready to lock horns in Dubai.
This year’s event marks the sixth event in Dubai from The Desert Warrior Challenge team and combines an ultimate blend of physical endurance, mental challenges and teamwork on the course.
The Dubai event is once again supported by the Dubai Sports Council.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters on Monday, Ghazi Al Madani said: “Dubai is a city of challenges and the Desert Warrior Challenge is one of our oldest and most popular challenges, and the ultimate test of strength, courage, endurance and teamwork.
“It is the region’s most adrenaline-fuelled and exhilarating obstacle course race and this year, it is happening on Valentine’s Day, inside the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, on the region’s only home-grown obstacle course.
“From its start in 2014, the Desert Warrior Challenge has always created a great buzz in the community and we expect another spectacular show from Dubai’s fitness warriors.”
This February will see the Desert Warrior Challenge course return bigger and better than ever. Hot on the heels of their most successful event to date in February 2019 at the same location, the team behind this exhilarating obstacle course race are building up to break some records with the latest version of this renowned event.
Favourite Warrior obstacles include the highest ‘1/4 Pipe’ in the region, the fabled ‘4 Ways’ obstacle and launching at Desert Warrior Challenge Dubai 2020, the longest ‘monkey bars’ seen in any regional obstacle course race at over 20 metres long. Loyal Warriors who have been a fixture at the events across the UAE over the last five years won’t be bored with organisers promising more tricks up their sleeves.
Managing Director of Warrior Events Troy Gilham said, “The course we’re putting together for Dubai 2020 has some of our biggest obstacles yet, and we know our Warrior participants will feel a real sense of accomplishment and triumph when they cross the finish line. Their mentality and attitude is second to none and while we keep raising the bar with our events and obstacles, our Warriors keep reaching it.”
Pro male, pro female, pro teams and ultimate warriors will take on 22+ obstacles over 10km and Fearless Warriors will be smashing through 12+ obstacles over 5km. Children aged six and over will be zooming along the 1-2km Junior Warrior course, with 8 obstacles to conquer.
Whether you’re a veteran Warrior with a stack of medals to your name, or this is your first ever attempt at an obstacle course race, you’ll feel at home on the course with the Desert Warrior Challenge family. Prior experience certainly isn’t compulsory, but boldness, bravery, and a sense of fun sure are!
