Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, has thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his gracious patronage of the sports sector and for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading Dubai Sports Council (DSC).
Sheikh Mansoor was thankful to Sheikh Mohammed for giving him this opportunity to serve the nation through a vital government entity, which seeks to create a healthy and happy community by encouraging its members to embrace sports, and strives to groom promising young talents and to create generations of champions, who will proudly fly the UAE flag at international championships.
Sheikh Mansoor also thanked Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, for his support and encouragement of the sports sector, and his leadership and guidance of Dubai Sports Council, which served as its foundation and the springboard for its impressive list of achievements over the past 15 years, and he asserted they will continue to be the basis of the Council’s work in the next phase.
These remarks were made during Sheikh Mansoor’s visit to Dubai Sports Council (DSC) on Wednesday, and his meeting with Mattar Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of DSC, in the presence of Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of DSC, and Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC.
Sheikh Mansoor took over as Chairman of DSC on Feb. 15, 2020, following Decree No. (5) of 2020 issued by Sheikh Mohammed, succeeding Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad, who was the Chairman of DSC since its inception in 2005.
Under the leadership and guidance of Sheikh Hamdan, the DSC and Dubai’s sports sector saw unprecedented growth, and the Emirate has become one of the top sporting destinations of the world - for both organisers and megastars, as well as visiting fans.
Sheikh Mansoor said DSC will strive to build on that legacy in the coming phase, and will continue to work hard, alongside the other Sports Councils and federations, to develop and enhance the sports sector in UAE, and keep the sector in sync with the strategic objectives of the government of Dubai and the UAE, and in step with the leading nations of the world.
The Chairman asserted that the Council’s focus in the coming phase will be to deliver on the vision of Sheikh Mohammed, and to implement the directives of Sheikh Hamdan to turn Dubai into the most physically active place on the planet, with a community that actively pursues sports and glows in health and happiness.
Sheikh Mansoor urged the Vice Chairman of the Council and the Members of Board to launch novel initiatives and programs that meet these objectives, but also enhance the contribution of the sports sector as the UAE builds on its first 50 years as a nation and strives to lead the world at all levels in the coming 50 years.
During his visit, the Chairman was briefed about the initiatives and programs of DSC and the important milestones in the Council’s journey over the past 15 years. He was also briefed about the functions of different Committees of the Council, and the role of its different Departments.
Sheikh Mansoor also reviewed the Council’s roadmap for the period 2020-2030, which prioritises innovation and the implementation of latest technologies – such as Eugenics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis and Machine Learning - and seeks to make sports a strong pillar of Dubai’s economy as well as a part of the daily lifestyle of every member of the community,
After the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor took a tour of the Council’s office, visiting all the different sections and speaking to the Directors of departments and other employees of the Council.
After the tour, Sheikh Mansoor posed for a group photograph with all the Board members and employees of DSC, emphasising that the Council is a team where every member is valued.
