Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), in association with the Dubai Sports Council, on Sunday announced that Dubai Sports World will continue to run for approximately two more months this season, instead concluding on Nov.29, 2020.
DWTC has transformed its halls into playing fields which are open to welcome all sports enthusiasts to play, practice and compete in a secure, safe and comfortable air-conditioned facility.
The venue has demonstrated resilience in the face of the global pandemic and has served as a safe environment for citizens and residents to continue living an active lifestyle. In alignment with the Government of Dubai’s stringent health and safety regulations, Dubai Sports World successfully implemented robust health and safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of players, visitors and the community.
Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said: “Since its onset, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of day-to-day life, including sport and physical activity. During this time, we have been focused on creating a safe environment for people to be physically active while providing them with ample space in keeping with social distancing requirements. Dubai Sports World supports Dubai's collective vision of promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, and we are delighted to be extending this edition, in turn playing an important role in boosting the physical and mental health of the public.”
Dubai Sports World has played host to an exhilarating summer, with sports enthusiasts of all ages and nationalities participating and academies lining up action-packed training camps in football, basketball, cricket, badminton, tennis, volleyball, padel tennis and table tennis.
A range of high-profile athletes have graced the fields of Dubai Sports World this year, including former Italy and Inter Milan goalkeeper Walter Zenga, Brazilian futsal legend Falcao, and legendary Lebanese basketball player Fadi El Khatib.
Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President, Venue Services Management, Dubai World Trade Centre, said: “For a decade, Dubai Sports World has served as the leading platform for the wider community to benefit from sports academies and associations, successfully bringing together people who have a passion for sports. We are proud of the role we play in encouraging a healthy lifestyle among citizens and residents alike. The response to this year’s edition has been overwhelmingly positive and has fuelled our collective decision together with the Dubai Sports Council to extend Dubai Sports World.”
DWTC strictly adheres to the rules and regulations laid out by Government authorities, including the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Dubai Sports Council to ensure the health and safety of visitors on the premises of DSW.
The value of Dubai Sports World extends beyond just an indoor sporting venue; DSW serves as an integral platform to allow for continuity of community activity and exercise.
