UAE NOC, Japanese delegation discuss ways to boost sporting ties

Mohammed Bin Darwish, Executive Director of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), received Sekiguchi Noboru, Japanese Consul General in Dubai, along with members of the Japanese School in Dubai.

The meeting reviewed the design of silk dresses for athletes and officials; a project innovated by the students of the school for sports personnel that will represent the UAE in the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games next year.

The reception was hosted by the National Olympic Committee at its headquarters in Dubai on Tuesday morning to celebrate the innovative project presented by the Japanese School to athletes.

During the event, the Japanese Consul General delivered a speech in which he emphasised his keenness to enhance cooperation with the NOC in sports and all fields to strengthen the relationship and serve the interests of the two countries in various sectors.

Sekiguchi Noboru expressed his delight with the idea, which highlights the keenness of the Japanese community in the United Arab Emirates to come up with new ideas that contribute to the relationship between the two countries.

The initiative targets athletes participating in the largest sporting event held every 4 years worldwide encompassing elite athletes in various games. It transmits many messages revolving around the principles of goodness, peace, friendship and cohesion.

Mohammed Bin Darwish expressed his pride in the visit of the Japanese delegation to the NOC and the keenness to forge fruitful partnerships that will have a great impact on consolidating the cooperation between the two countries.

"We are thrilled with such initiatives and seek to build bridges with everyone in line with the vision of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the NOC. Such a vision calls for promoting relations and diversifying experiences and knowledge in the interest of our athletes and to realise our goals and objectives.

The reception concluded by awarding certificates of appreciation and trophies to the visiting delegation. Group photos were then taken.
