In October 2020 DP World announced its partnership with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, intending to help the citywide movement to be the most inclusive to date.
With the conclusion of the 2020 edition last weekend, DP World is proud to have enabled more than 80,000 people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in the 30-day initiative and to continue on their health and wellness journey.
This year DP World became a presenting partner of the Kite Beach Fitness Village, DP World Women’s Fitness Pavilion and the inaugural Dubai Ride, as well as created a golf activation zone supported by Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter. DP World also launched its Get Race Ready campaign backed by F1 drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon which culminated with the unveiling of a Renault DP World F1 team car in Dubai Mall.
By the time the Dubai Fitness Challenge ends on Saturday evening, over 50,000 people will have attended Kite Beach to participate in one of the 3,800 sessions held across the four weeks. Nearly 3,000 of those visitors picked up a golf club and took on Ian Poulter’s Golf Challenge, showing that it is a sport that anyone can enjoy.
The DP World Women’s Fitness Pavilion, which opened its doors on Oct.30, welcomed more than 700 women of all ages and abilities to one of its inclusive sessions that included Zumba, Yoga, Pilates and strength and conditioning workouts.
Finally, the jewel in this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge crown was arguably Dubai Ride, presented by DP World. The unique closed road community cycling event saw more than 20,000 people, including children, families and People of Determination, enjoy the experience of riding along a traffic-free Sheikh Zayed Road on their bikes.
Maha Al Qattan, Chief People Officer at DP World said: “This year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge was the best and most inclusive yet and we are delighted to have been able to support such a great initiative. Health and wellness sit at the heart of DP World’s values, so it was fantastic to see people of all ages, abilities, and genders, many of whom were our employees, getting involved, getting fit and having fun.”
