Dubai Sports Council has shared a video of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona taking part in UAE National Day celebration during his stay in the UAE.
The council said, “Coinciding with the celebrations of UAE National Day, we recall the participation of the late Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona, in previous Dubai Sports Council National Day celebrations.”
Maradona, considered one of the best players ever, died from a heart attack at age 60 on Nov.25.
Football world united to pay tribute to the legend.
The diminutive Argentine, who stood tallest in the world of football, left a void in the sports fraternity that would be impossible to fill.
The whole world plunged into mourning as the news of his sudden demise spread like wildfire. He left the fans, players and the administrators of the clubs in tears.

The footballing genius had a long-lasting relationship with the UAE, where he donned the managerial role for two clubs – Al Wasl and Fujairah. A big chunk of the last decade of his life was spent in the UAE.
Maradona put Al Wasl and Arabian Gulf League (AGL) on the world map.
Maradona previously held the position of honorary sports ambassador for the city of Dubai, in addition to his participation in the activities of the Dubai International Sports Conference and many sporting events organised by the council.
