Mohammed Saeed’s extra time goal helped Emirates beat Ittihad Kalba 1-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the President’s Cup at the Emirates Club Stadium in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.
Both teams played a defensive game as the match ended in a goalless draw.
Kalba’s Ahmed GIshk got the red card in the 85th minute.
In another game of the day, Bani Yas defeated Al Urooba 2-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals at the Bani Yas Club Stadium.
Ahmed Shehda Abunamous scored both the goals in the in the 71st and 78th minutes.
The match was moderated by a referee team consisting of, Ahmed Bilal (referee), Ahmed Jassim Al Hosani (first assistant), Abdullah Sharif Al Marzouki (second assistant), Hassan Ali Muhammad.
Earlier, Al Nasr defeated Al Wahda 4-2 after their match ended 0-0 during regulation time and went to the penalty kicks as their meeting on Saturday didn’t have the goals but it did have penalties shootout to determine the winner at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
In another late match on Saturday, Al Wasl clinched their quarter-final spot with a 1-0 victory over Fujairah at the Fujairah Stadium.
Joao Figueiredo scored the lone goal in the 51st minute after both teams failed to score in the first half.
