The second edition of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy Bowling tournament for Ladies concluded at Khalifa International Sports Centre at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of FBMA, and President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Ladies Club.
34 players took part in the competition, where Reem Jamal ranked first with a score of 381 points.
Shaima Al Kaabi took second spot place with a score of 369 points while Afraa Al Hajeri finished third after collecting 356 points.
The academy has also allocated cash prizes for three well as trophies and medals, and the tournament included all segments of girls and women of various nationalities and ages.
The competition aimed at developing national talent, which also helps create a broad base of female bowling players, which occupy a prominent position in the country through various tournaments, programmes and sports activities.
The academy adopted a successful approach to the development of women's sport. The organising committee was keen to apply the precautionary measures with the utmost precision to preserve the health of the players starting with the participants presenting a negative PCR test before the beginning of the tournament, sterilisation procedures, social distancing and temperature check upon entry and exit.
The organisation of the second women’s bowling tournament exceeded all expectations after the online registration made through the academy's website.
"This is the first time I have participated in FBMA Bowling Tournament for ladies, although I have heard about it through the social media pages and this encouraged me to be a part of the experience that gives girls the opportunity to bring talent to a secure environment with a competitive atmosphere and enthusiasm.
“I would like to thank all those who are responsible for it and I hope that the tournament will be frequent with future editions," said Reem.
