Mariam Al Hosani dominated the inaugural edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy (FBMA) karting competition held at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, President of the Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain ladies clubs.
Mariam completed ten laps in 1:17sec to claim the victory. Fatima Al Muharrami finished with 1 minute and 18 seconds while Ahlam Al Hammadi came third after ending the race in 1 minute and 21 seconds.
A total of 64 participants took part in the competition. FBMA representative, Fatima Al Amri, gave awards to the winners while assuring that the participation of ladies in such events contribute greatly to spreading happiness, optimism and raising the spirit of competition.
“The academy wants to aspire and unite among members of the community.
The team will continue to organise such tournaments this year. We are glad to organise the 1st FBMA Karting Race, which allows ladies to practice sports and their hobbies.
“This turnout is proof that the Academy is heading in the right path, and will continue to have greater presence in many local and community sports events at the desire of the ladies in our society of all segments,” she added.
Participants were overwhelmed by competing in this race organised by the academy for the first time, in proportion to their interests regardless of age and nationality.
