Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard is adored by her fans. She was a finalist at Wimbledon, a semi-finalist at the French Open, and featured in the Australian Open at 20.
She has been under the weather recently. She had food poisoning, and was even down with flu, which had nothing to do with the coronavirus.
But there is a bright spot amid all the sickness blues. Not long ago, Bouchard said she was in the market for the love of the competition, for garnering titles, not friends. Well, where friends go, she seems to have found a real extra-special one: her soulmate, American football player Mason Rudolph, whom she is dating. Rumours about her relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback were doing the rounds for months. Now it is official, as the couple have confirmed they are in a relationship on a recent Instagram post.
Rudolph, 25, shared a sun-soaked photo of the couple enjoying a day on a beach to his personal page, with the legend, "My Valentine," according to the website of a well-known Canadian newspaper. Bouchard, 26, posted a solo photograph on her Instagram page from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and wrote, "Quick vday getaway."
Reaction to the pair making things Instagram official was enthusiastic among the couple’s family and friends, according to the report.
Bouchard’s sister, Charlotte, commented on Rudolph’s pic, “You two,” followed by a heart-eyed emoji, while Buffalo Bills linebacker Tyler Matakevich wrote, “Watching you grow up brings tears to my eyes.”
Last fall, TMZ reported that Bouchard — a well-known football fan — was dating Rudolph. After the two were first linked in October, the Montreal native posted a photo to her Instagram from Nissan Stadium in Tennessee following the Steelers’ win against the Titans.
Bouchard grabbed headlines in 2017 after she agreed to go on a date with a random Twitter follower if Tom Brady’s New England Patriots won against the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl 51.
“Honestly, we were a disaster for each other’s dating lives, it was so bad,” Bouchard reflected in an interview with tennis.com last year. “That infamous moment in my life when I tweeted when I shouldn’t have just turned into this whole thing … We’ve hung out a bunch of times.
“I think he has a girlfriend now though, maybe that’s why he doesn’t text me back.”
