Third week of Labour Sports Tournament witness exciting clashes

The third week of the fourth Labour Sports Tournament, organised by the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, witnessed 28 exciting matches in four disciplines.
Five matches were played in football, four in basketball, three in cricket and 16 in hockey.
In the football championship, the National Paints team thumped Hala Medical Centre team 4-1, Skinova edged past Fast team 1 - 0, the Sharjah Archaeology Authority team beat DXB Team 5-2, Commandos beat the Eco Cargo 4 -1 and Sharjah Cooperative Society team beat Adnoc 2-1.
The exciting basketball competitions resulted in the MPBL team beating ADNOC with a score of 66-58, RAC defeated Timba- NBTC UAE team 55-53, Bicol Oragon defeated its counterpart Fast Building Contracting 71-66, and Armado defeated Abu Shagarah 66 - 63.
In cricket competition, Sharjah Archeology defeated Sharjah Cooperative by seven wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, the Sharjah Archeology team posted 60 for the loss of eight wickets.
In reply, Sharjah Cooperative chased down the target without any fuss.
In other matches, Adnoc Sharjah and Adnoc Dubai also registered easy victories against their respective rivals. Adnoc Sharjah beat the Sharjah University team while Adnoc Dubai downed Al Dhaid Municipality.
Total 16 games were played in the hockey category of the championship.
Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club dominated the match from the beginning and posted a 3-0 win over the Dubai Club. In other matches, Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club- Blue beat the Sharjah Tigers Field Hockey Club 2-1.
The third week of the competition was attended by Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, who inspected the playground and spoke to officials and players about their feedback to help improve the next edition.
Qaseer praised the level of the tournament and the high skills demonstrated by the players which make the tournament an opportunity to discover distinguished players and LSDA will facilitate such talent search by clubs. Qaseer also praised the participants’ high spirit and commitment to the prevention, safety, and separation requirements adopted in sports at the country level.
