The home side looked determined to seal the three points from the start, hoping to end a run of disappointing performances that saw them slip to third place on the standings.
They got off to a quickfire start and opened the scoring after six minutes only when Coronado found the back of the net with a superb free-kick from the edge of the box. The Brazilian forward was on target again as he doubled Sharjah’s lead in the 17th minute following an inch-perfect through pass from his fellow countryman Caio Lucas.
To further compound Khorfakkan’s misery, Waleed Sirag scored an own goal to put Sharjah 3-0 up. Coronado converted from the spot to net his third of the night two minutes before the break, as Sharjah had the three points all but sealed.
Ramon Lopes reduced the deficit with less than 20 minutes to go. However, it was too little too late, especially with Coronado making it 5-1 in the 83rd minute.
