The Labour Standards Development Authority (LSDA) in Sharjah has announced the list of teams qualifying for the second round of the football competition of the fourth Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament, according to the results of the draw held at the authority on Sunday.
LSDA Chairman Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, and Tariq Salem Al Hanbashi, Chairman Reach Target, the event organisers, and representatives of the participating teams were present on the occasion. The draw was also broadcasted live on social media channels.
Qaseer said, "We are happy with the great success that the Labour Sports Tournament has achieved so far, which is attributed to the support of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the direct supervision of Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.
Qaseer revealed that LSDA has begun preparations for the next edition of the Labour Sports Tournament which will be the sixth in a row.
As per the draw, the quarter-finalists will take place on March 19, as follows: The Sharjah Cooperative Society team will meet Skinova team, Fast with lock horns with Injazat Group, ADNOC team will face Sharjah Archaeological Authority and Burgurry with meet National Paints team, who are the former champions of the league. The four qualifiers will play on March 26, while the football final will be played on April 2.
Meanwhile, in the volleyball matches, Bigmart beat Al Nahda 2-0, while in basketball, MPBL team defeated Abu Shagara 65-64, Leo’s Events RAK Quatro team overcame SPL 79-71, Blossoming beat ADNOC 56-50, the Air Strike team aced Fast 74- 71 and D74 was defeated by Oragon 77-54.
In cricket, the four matches resulted in a victory for the Bee'ah Sharjah team over the Dibba Al-Hisn team, and in another game, the Bee'ah Sharjah team itself beat ADNOC Sharjah.
The Sharjah Archaeological Authority team beat ADNOC Ajman, and OBS Automotive beat Sharjah Humanitarian.
In hockey, the sixth week witnessed 18 matches.
UAE Falcons Field Hockey Club-Green team overcame the challenge of United Emirates Hockey Club- White 2-1, the United Emirates Hockey Club colour beat Sharjah Tigers Hockey Club 2-1, Khalifa Hockey Club Fujairah downed Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club - Black 2-0 and Khalifa Hockey Club Fujairah tied with the United Emirates Hockey Club colour 2-2. Besides, UAE Falcons Field Hockey Club and Green with Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club-Black played out a goalless draw, Khalifa Hockey Club Fujairah drew United Emirates Hockey Club- White 1-1, while United Emirates Hockey Club colour tied with Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club- Black 0-0.
UAE Falcons Field Hockey Club-Green beat United Emirates Hockey Club colour 3-1, Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club-Blue routed Sharjah Tigers Hockey Club 4-0, UAE Falcons Field Hockey Club-Green edged past Dubai Hockey Club. 2-1 while Khalifa Hockey Club Fujairah beat Anglo Indian Hockey Club 1-0.
