Fast, Skinnova, Adnoc and National Paint secured a spot in the semi-finals of the soccer event of the Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament, organized by the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority.
The Skinova booked their berth in the last four after a thumping win over Sharjah National Society 7-1 while Fast team drubbed Injazat Group 5-0 to confirm their spot.
ADNOC also advanced following a hard-fought win over Sharjah Archeology Authority 5-4 in a thrilling contest. The National Paint joined them in the semi-finals after edging past The Burgurry 11-10.
The competition was graced by Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, who praised the high level of the competition.
He said the success of the tournament is a testament to the keen interest of the Emirate of Sharjah in promoting sports.
Meanwhile, in the basketball competitions four matches were played. Abu Shagarah beat ADNOC 66-53; D-74 team defeated BISDAQ 94-55; Oregon downed Sharjah Driving Institute 62-59, and Fast Building Contracting prevailed over SBL 64-63.
In volleyball, Only Fresh defeated counterpart Beea’h Tandeef 2-0. In cricket matches, ADNOC Sharjah defeated the Sharjah Humanitarian team, Dibba Al Hosn team beat University of Sharjah, Sharjah Cooperative Team beat ADNOC Ajman and Beea’h Sharjah registered victory over University of Sharjah.
In hockey competitions, United Emirates Hockey Club-White defeated Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club-Green 1-0; Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club-Black defeated the Anglo Indian Hockey Club 1-0; UAE Master Hockey Club edged past United Emirates Hockey Club - Color 2-1; Sharjah Tigers India Hockey Club- Blue beat Anglo Indian Hockey Club 1-0 and UAE Master Hockey Club defeated United Emirates Hockey Club- White 1-0.
The participating players in the first-of-its-kind tournament expressed satisfaction over the organization and technical level shown in the various games. Muhammad Ramadan, a player of the Sharjah Cooperative Society football team, said: "The tournament is excellent, the organization is wonderful, and it provided an opportunity to highlight our skills and play a major role in developing social relations between the players."
Romualdo Galang of the Adnoc Basketball team said:“We are delighted to participate for the third time in the tournament, as it represents a great experience for us to meet with our counterparts in various sectors. I commend the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority and the organiser Reach Target for the wonderful organization of this tournament which develops relationships between workers and employers, in addition to its physical, health and skill benefits.”
