Ali Mabkhout scored a hat-trick as the UAE tuned up for their joint 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asia Cup qualifiers with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Jordan on Monday.
Odai Al Saify pulled one for Jordan but a rampant UAE finished the job in style with four more.
The UAE are gearing up for their World Cup qualifiers, which begins on June 3. The UAE are based in Dubai and attending a conditioning camp under the watchful eyes of the Dutch coach Bert Van Marwijk. The match was a part of the preparations for the qualifiers.
A Van Marwijk-led UAE are bidding to attempt to advance to the third and final round of qualification for Qatar 2022. He is busy charting out a map for the UAE to qualify for the showpiece event.
The UAE need to win all their remaining matches to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
The Asian qualifiers will be held form June 3-20 in the UAE.
The UAE will play Malaysia and Thailand on June 3 and 7 respectively which will be followed by the clashes against Indonesia and Vietnam on June 11 and 15 respectively.
