VIDEO: Greenpeace protester parachutes into stadium at Euro 2020, snipers 'were ready to shoot'

A greenpeace protester parachuted into the stadium before France’s game against Germany at the European Championship on Tuesday.
He glided into the stadium and seemed to lose control after connecting with wires attached to the roof for TV cameras.
The environmental activist who made an emergency landing into the stadium hosting the Germany-France Euro 2020 match in Munich only narrowly avoided being shot down by snipers because police spotted the Greenpeace logo, Bavaria's interior minister said on Wednesday.
"The snipers already had him in their sights," the regional minister Joachim Herrmann said in a statement.
He struggled to avoid crashing into spectators and managed to land on the field, where Germany players Antonio Rüdiger and Robin Gosens were the first to approach him.
He was then led away by security stewards and given medical attention on the side of the field.
The parachute had the words "Kick out oil Greenpeace” written on it.
The pilot was not injured.
He now faces charges of violating air traffic law, endangering air traffic, causing grievous bodily harm and trespass, according to police spokesman Mueller.
The man has been released from custody, authorities said.
