In a dramatic turn of events, German cyclist Nils Politt grabbed the 12th stage of the prestigious Tour de France on Thursday, his first phenomenal victory.
Bora team’s Politt said, following his stage win: “This is the biggest achievement and my passion.
"Right from the beginning was the wind which played a pivotal role in my stage victory, it's unbelievable," he added.
Team Emirate’s Tadej Pogacar, who is also a defending champion of the prestigious event, maintained his overall lead of approximately five minutes (5:18) over 2nd-placed Rigoberto Uran, followed by Jonas Vingegaard in third, 5:33 off the pace.

“If I get an opportunity next time I won’t let it go,” The Slovenian issued a caveat.
Mark Cavendish, who is chasing a record equaling 34 stage wins, plays down the talks of Eddy Merckx's all-time record, though, now it seems to be a possible scenario for the Veteran sprinter in the stages to come.
