Dubai: Al Dhafra suffered a 1-0 home defeat against guests Sharjah in the second matchweek of Adnoc Pro League at Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Dhafra’s second consecutive defeat saw them share the bottom of the table with Emirates and Al Orooba who also haven’t earned a point in the first two fixtures of the campaign. Meanwhile, Sharjah claimed their sixth point out of two fixtures.
The guests dominated the scene at most times until they found their way to Al Dhafra’s net in the 29th minute with a strike from Congolese Ben Malango who made the best out of Bernard Duarte’s assist.
Sharjah continued to dominate the scene amid dull performance from the hosts and kept trying to double the score when VAR disallowed Khaled Bawazir’s goal in the 50th minute.
Their attempts didn’t stop until VAR interfered once again to call off a penalty ruled for the guests in the 85th minute.
After sealing this victory, Sharjah are now leveled on points with Shabab Al Ahli and Al Ain who are leading the standings having earned 6 points out of the first two games.
Meanwhile, Al Nasr claimed a 5-0 victory over Al Orooba in the second matchweek of Pro League at Al Maktoum Stadium, earning their first three points in a game that was almost decided by the hosts before the break.
It appears that Al Nasr players wanted to prove they had recovered from their first week’s 3-0 defeat to Ajman through their entertaining display against Al Orooba.
It took the host team only 4 minutes to find Al Orooba’s net through their striker Sebastián Tagliabué.
Following the goal Al Nasr continued to control the game’s rhythm until Gláuber Lima could double the lead with a header in the 39th minute, just two minutes before Tagliabué added his second goal and Al Nasr’s third when Dia Saba trough pass put him head to head with the goalkeeper.
The guests tried to get back in the game in the second half, while Al Nasr were keen on maintaining a clean sheet, and it wasn’t until the second minute of the added time when Toze managed to net Al Nasr’s fourth goal, two minutes before Ryan Mendes sealed the victory with a fifth goal.
With this result, Al Nasr earned their first three points in this year’s ADNOC Pro League campaign while Al Orooba remain at the bottom of the standings having conceded two defeats in the first two weeks.
