Athletes of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club are making waves at the domestic and global competitions.
In the recently held Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup, Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club showed the strength of their burgeoning young female talent, taking first place ahead of Al Ain Club and Palms Sports Team 777 in the youth category.
Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club athletes also stole the show at the AJP Tour Asia Continental Pro G1.
They collected 32,600 points, ahead of Commando Group (24,200 points), with Al Jazira Club third with 19,440 points.
Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club’s team won first place in the blue belt competitions for youth, men and masters, and third place in the final ranking.
It led to the development of the club’s classification, to become the third in Asia and the UAE, and 12th in the world.
“Our goal is to build a strong team in jiu-jitsu to secure a promising future in this sport and have a distinguished position locally and globally, said Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club.
Owais extended his thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Sports Council and the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and to the technical bodies of Jiu-Jitsu, led by coach Ibrahim Al Hosani, and the administrator under the supervision of Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, Director of the Training Department and the team’s coaches for the efforts that paved the way for achieving the club’s distinguished results, calling on everyone to continue working in the same high spirit.
He pointed out that the club achieved first place in many competitions and championships during the current season, an achievement that deserves to be preserved and strengthened permanently, explaining that the club’s management is currently studying a set of ideas to achieve the vision of the Sharjah Sports Council and the club’s board of directors in the coming period.
