Fans ready to catch the IPL action live as ticket prices announced

Stands full of spectators cheering and egging players on to give their best is what makes sport so riveting.

Empty stadiums kill enthusiasm and the thrill of live sporting action. The pandemic stole an integral part for the last year or so. But the tide is changing. Cutouts of spectators are leaving the stands as the roar is set to return to the UAE in a few days time.

The decks are cleared, as the Indian Premier League 2021 will have cricket fans back at the stadiums.

The second phase of the IPL starts with the five-time champions and defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on three-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sept.19.

Adhering to strict health and safety protocols, a limited number of completely vaccinated fans will be permitted to go to the matches at the three stadiums in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

With a restricted number of seats accessible for fans at the three venues, those needing to capture the action live have to shell out Dhs200 for most matches in Dubai and Sharjah.

The least cost for a ticket has been fixed at Dhs200 at the Sharjah Stadium, particularly for the huge matches.

Spectators based in Abu Dhabi can watch a game for just Dhs60. The Capital will host eight matches.

It will be the first time since 2019 when the IPL will be played in front of an audience. Last year, the league was played behind closed doors in the UAE while the first half of the 2021 edition was also played inside a strict bio-bubble.
