There cannot be anything more delightful for a cricket fan than to watch a World Cup match, featuring India and Pakistan.
And the same was evident once again as the website selling World Cup tickets was clogged with thousands of aficionados, who were desperately waiting for the tickets to go on sale.
Within the minutes of the announcement of the sale of the ticket by ICC on https://www.t20worldcup.com/tickets, the website was flooded with thousands of fans trying to book a berth in the stadium to watch their heroes live in action.
Being a cricket reporter, as soon I got a mail from ICC about the sale of the tickets, I too sprang into action to book a few tickets for my family members and close friends.
With in the eight minutes of tickets going on sale, I was 14, 275 in the queue and my expected waiting time was over an hour.
But I was also resolute to give it a try and decided to wait. I stayed in the queue and kept on checking my number, which was moving painstakingly slow at a snail’s pace.
It looked like the eternity, but waiting for the tickets itself was an exciting experience that left me awestruck, wondering what would be it like to see the action live.
After two hours of wait, finally my number came but when I went ahead it was showing all sold out and only premium tickets were available.
And that was out of my reach as it cost a whopping Dhs1,500 for two Premium and Dhs2,800 for two in Platinum categories respectively.
The minimum price for the India-Pakistan ticket for the East or West stand was 600 for two person.
India will take on Pakistan in the opening match of the Round of Super 12 in Dubai on Oct.24, 2021.
The match generates more interest because the south-Asian arch-rivals have not been playing in the bilateral series for over a decade owing to the cross-border tension.
They only play in the ICC events. Last time they played each other was in 2018 in the Asia Cup in Dubai.
