A referee of a second-division game in Brazil was rushed to hospital after he was kicked twice by a player on the head.
William Ribeiro of Sao Paulo team got furious after referee Rodrigo Crivellaro refused to give free kick to his team in a game against Guarani de Venancio Aires.
According to the local media report Ribeiro kicked Crivellaro twice on head, the second time when the official lay on the ground.
Crivellaro, who passed out and fell unconscious, was immediately taken to hospital and Ribeiro was arrested on the ground itself.
The match was suspended and Ribeiro's club said his contract was terminated after the incident.
Crivellaro, who was released from the hospital on Tuesday morning, told journalists that he is yet to see footage of the incident.
Local police investigator Vinicius Assunção said that Ribeiro attack was very strong and violent, kicking the referee in the head and making him pass out when had no chance of defending himself.
Assunção said that it is up to judge to decide whether Ribeiro will remain in custody during the investigation or be released on bail.
