William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors came to life once again but this time it happened in Sharjah not Greece.Though there were no separated twins rather a doppelganger, who triggered the confusion, which turned into a chaos and ended in comedy.
In a bizzare turn of events, a commoner was mistaken for former Indian captain and coach Ravi Shastri at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Saturday.
Shastri’s doppelganger enjoyed a celebrity status briefly as fans flocked to get themselves clicked with the man. He himself was shocked at the development but quietly posed with fans.
The man, who was more than happy to quietly posed with the people smiling at camera, must have been left giggling secretly with the pride for all the attention that he got.
His striking similarity with Shastri left even the sports journalists in doubt for a moment. It was one of those moments when the faith of the other people shake you confidence, even when you know what is right.
However, when the fans started increasing in number as the man did not show any tantrums of a celebrity, security had to intervene to rescue the poor folk from the aficionados.
The truth came forth when he himself requested for a picture with former Indian captain and the current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who was quietly watching all the drama from his seat.
