Curtains have come down on the ninth season of the Sheikha Hind Women's Sports Tournament, which is organized by Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum.
The tournament featured competitions in six different sports — bowling, running, cycling, badminton, crossfit, and padel tennis — and Dubai Police took the ‘Best Participant’ honours for their haul of five gold medals, two silvers and two bronze.
In the badminton championship held at Al Nasr Sports Club, Rawda Saeed Rashid of Dubai Police took the title in the Emirati category, while Maryam Al Doubi of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) finished second and Maryam Jamil Al Balushi came third.
In the non-Emirati category, Navish Sarah Siraj of Dubai Media Incorporated won first place, followed by Jenelle Kabolong of Dubai Health Authority, and DEWA’s Michelle Abalet.
Dubai Police’s Afra Hareb Al Nuaimi took first place in the 3km run that was held in Al Warqa Park. She clocked 14:58 minutes to finish head of Fatima Saeed Al Maamari of Dubai Police (15:46) while Nadia Ali Al Maamari of the Roads and Transport Authority came third with a time of 16:02.
In the 16km bike race that was held at Nad Al Sheba Cycling Track, Safia Mukhtar Al Sayegh of Dubai Police won first place in the Emirati category with a time of 28:23 minutes, followed by Farah Al Marri of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (30:47) and Aisha Ahmed Al Fouladh of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (30:49).
In the crossfit competitions that were held at the Max and Aegle, Asma Rashid of Emirates NBD took first place in the Emirati category, followed by Noura Al Sarrah of DEWA and Afra Hareb Al Nuaimi of Dubai Police.
In the bowling tournament that was held at the Dubai International Bowling Center in Al Mamzar, Suad Yousef of Dubai Police took first place with a total of 567 points, followed by Reem Jamal from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (542 points) and Asmaa Rashid Al Suwaidi of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (456 points).
In the Padel Championship, which was held at Padel Point in Al Quoz, the duo of Hessa Al Jasmi and Nouf Omar from Emirates Airlines took first place. Alaa Magdi and Noura Al Shamsi of DEWA were second, and Sarah Al Falasi and Noura Al Suwaidi of DEWA were third.
