Pakistan’s premier Imran Khan named International Sports Personality by MBR Awards

Pakistan’s premier Imran Khan has been named as the International Sport Personality Award by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Creative Sports Award on Tuesday.

The felicitation ceremony will take place at the Expo 2020 on Jan.9. The Pakistan’s prime minister has been conferred the honour for his contribution to sports in general and cricket in particular.

Imran has served the sports both as a player and an administrator. He was the first Pakistani captain to steer them to the World Cup glory in Australia in 1992.

He still remains the only in 50-over World Cup as Pakistan are still waiting for their second title.

Since coming to the power, Imran is credited to have made sweeping changes which has completely change the landscape of the sports in the country.

Being a former sports person himself, the prime minister could relate himself with the day-to-day challenges that an aspirant faces.

Imran allocated a handsome budget of $639 million to improve the condition of the sporting facilities across the country and to elevate the young aspirants.

He also announced to give scholarship to the young sport aspirants and vowed to build a cricket ground in all Pakistan villages.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee, has been conferred the Arab Sports Personality for his exploit as an administrator that took the Qatar athletics to new heights. Qatar athletes put up their best performance with two gold and one bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
