World number one Ashleigh Barty announced her engagement to long-term boyfriend Garry Kissick on Tuesday, capping her third consecutive season as world number one.
The good news was disclosed in an Instagram post by the Australian, who shared a snapshot of the smiling pair hugging with an engagement ring on her finger.
“Future husband,” wrote the two time major winner to caption a photo of a beaming trio: Barty, Kissick, and her impressive rock.
Kissick, 30, is a former professional golfer who met Barty in 2016 on a course in Barty's native state of Queensland.
When she plays, he is always courtside and frequently sends encouraging remarks on social media.
Simona Halep posted 10 love heart emojis in response to the news, which generated a whirlwind of congrats from fellow tennis players.
Barty, the defending Wimbledon champion, withdrew from the season-ending WTA Finals to stay at home and prepare for the Australian Open.
