The United Emirates Hockey Club organised an indoor tournament to mark the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The event took place at the Al Quoz Indoor hall. Six teams including United Emirates Hockey Club, Masters XI, Cheema XI, Coorg UAE, Dubai Republicans and Lacnor participated in the one-day tournament.
After making their way to the final, Cheema XI team emerged winners of the National Day Cup following a 2-0 victory over Coorg UAE. Abdul Waheed and Atif were on target for the winners.
Bilal Haider Kazmi, CEO of Events 360 Dubai and Head of World Sports, was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away the trophies in the presence of Ahmed Al Sayegh, former UAE national team captain of UAE.
Nadeem Pehlawan, senior official of Pakistan Wrestling Association, also graced the presentation ceremony along with former hockey stars Jaffar Hussain, Abid Sharif and Gordan D'souza.
Speaking to the media, Kazmi offered support for the hockey events in the UAE. He also announced a plan to host a tournament in the UAE involving teams from Pakistan and India.
