The father-son duo of Shiva Pagarani and Darshan Pagarani starred in Dubai Mammoths' one-sided victory over Dubai Exiles in the 3rd DCC Smashers League at the Sevens Oval ground in Dubai.
The Pagaranis accounted for seven of the Exiles wickets. Shiva finished with 4 for 39 to bag the man of the match award while Darshan grabbed 3 for 26 as the Exiles were bundled out for 154 chasing a mammoth 247 for victory.
While the Pagaranis bamboozled the Exiles with the ball, opener Sheridan Hadfield plundered the Exiles bowlers during his classy 64 from just 26 balls (4x6, 7x4).
Fahad Abousher (37), Ridge Menezes (25), Bunty Asit (35) and CTK Mashood (29 n.o.) too joined the party in helping Mammoth post 246.
In the match between Colatta Professional Chocolates and Faisal XI it was Laxman Sreekumar’s all-round skills that helped the former win a closely fought match by two wickets.
Laxman claimed two wickets as Colatta restricted Faisal XI to 139 for 7. Later Laxman and Krishna Kumar steered Colatta home after their team suffered a shaky start when five of their batsmen were back in the pavilion with the total on 28.
Laxman (41 retired hurt) and Krishna Kumar (39) raised 94 crucial runs for the sixth wicket and although the target was not very stiff it took Mohtasim Jakati’s cracking 9-ball 14 (1x6, 2x4) towards the end to take Colatta over the tape.
In another close match Dubai Rhinos pipped Colatta by 8 runs.
Faisal Baig was instrumental in Rhinos win. First he blasted 46 from only 14 balls (2x6, 7x4) after Jawed Siddique (69) and Araash Raheja (67 not out) had laid the foundation for Rhinos.
Later Baig bagged two wickets to restrict Colatta to 219 for 8.
At one point Colatta looked like cruising to victory when Sharad Anilchandra (55), Dhruva Praveen (41), Krishna Kumar (45) and Mohtasim Jakati were going at full steam but Baig and Zahid Ameer (2-35) applied the brakes on their scoring.
