Reigning Open champion Collin Morikawa, the world’s number two ranked golfer, on Monday took time out from preparing for this week’s Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic to tour Expo 2020 Dubai – the world’s ‘greatest show.’
No stranger to the emirate after claiming a memorable victory at last November’s DP Tour World Championship, Morikawa — one of three top 10-ranked players contesting this week’s Rolex Series event at Emirates Golf Club — toured numerous country pavilions before thrilling onlookers with some practice swings in front of the famous Al Wasl Dome.
Joined on the tour by the Open’s iconic Claret Jug, which the 24-year-old won at Royal St George’s in England last year, Morikawa also made a special visit to Emirates NBD Pavilion, where he signed a caddie’s bib, before taking in Expo 2020 Dubai’s awe-inspiring water feature ‘Surreal’, between Al Wasl Plaza and Jubilee Park.
Morikawa, world no. 5 Victor Hovland, and world no. 8 Rory McIlroy head a star-studded field vying for the Dallah Trophy on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club this week.
The Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic is among the most highly anticipated golfing events, as the oldest professional golf tournament in the Middle East, showcasing seasoned talent from around the world and attracting up and coming stars of tomorrow.
