AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro will kick off on Saturday with hundreds of players from various clubs and academies across the UAE and the region, including a range of nationalities, skill levels, and age groups taking to mats at Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City.
The two-day event, organised by the UAEJJF in cooperation with AJP, will mark its beginning with competitions for teens, youth, and masters and will conclude on Sunday with competitions for adults and professionals.
Youssef Abdullah Al Batran, a board member of the UAEJJF, said that the beginning of the new sports season with a championship that brings prominent local and international talents together, heralds a new stage of achievements and underlines the UAE's leadership position in the global jiu-jitsu scene.
“The increased interest among athletes representing different countries and age groups to compete in this prestigious championship is a testament to the high international standards we maintain.
“The next two days will be exciting and entertaining, and the winners will enjoy a great start to the season,” Batran added.
Meanwhile, Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager at the AJP, emphasized that the competitions organised by AJP in multiple countries and continents have been extremely successful, contributing to Abu Dhabi's status as the global capital of Jiu-Jitsu.
Bahri added: “The AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro highlights AJP and UAEJJF's shared goal of improving the performance of UAE athletes and honing their skills through encounters with elite players from various academies and countries. This would undoubtedly result in significant advancement in the field of sports, particularly jiu-jitsu”.
