Lahore Qalandars put brakes on Multan Sultans’ winning streak in PSL

Lahore Qalandars finally halted the unbeaten streak of the Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), as they bowled beat their rivals by 52 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday night.

After being invited to bat, in-form Lahore Qalandars handed a 183-run target to unbeaten Multan Sultans, but the Mohammad Rizwan-led side could not live up to the situation as they were all out for 130 runs. The 20-year-old Zaman Khan claimed three wickets and gave away only 21 runs in 3.3 overs.

Skipper Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Rashid Khan took two wickets each to dismantle Sultans batting line-up.

Rashid Khan took two crucial wickets of Rizwan and Rilee Rossouw. With the win, Qalandars have moved to second position in the table.

Earlier, Qalandars' Fakhar Zaman had lit the Gaddafi Stadium with his exceptional knock against table-toppers Multan Sultans, scoring a quick 37-ball 60 runs.

Kamran Ghulam and Muhammad Hafeez played two spectacular knocks to help the Qalandars set a big total of 183 runs for Sultans.

Phil Salt also scored a blistering 13-ball 26. Meanwhile, The Quetta Gladiators have replaced left-arm orthodox spinner, Mohammad Nawaz, with Hassan Khan, a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Friday.

The Gladiators suffered a huge blow earlier today after Nawaz was ruled out of the PSL due to an injury. Nawaz has suffered a navicular bone nondisplaced fracture.

Nawaz's exit is a huge setback to the Gladiators' team, who are currently sitting on the fourth spot of the PSL 2022 points table with four points in five matches. Ever since the first PSL edition in 2016, Nawaz has been an instrumental part in Gladiators success both with the bat and ball, as well as with some great fielding as well.

PCB in collaboration with Pepsi has launched an exciting initiative to search for new cricket commentators for the Pepsi presents Voice of Pakistan Cricket 2022 campaign.

The digital campaign started on Thursday, cricket commentary enthusiasts who aspire to pursue a career in this exciting field can participate by submitting their entries through video recordings of their commentary.

Out of the submissions, a total of 20 commentators will be shortlisted and will be called for an audition that will be conducted by Chairman PCB Ramiz Raja who remained Pakistan’s ace cricket commentator for nearly 23 years before starting his tenure at the helm of Pakistan cricket in September last year.

From the list of 20, five candidates will be shortlisted for the final-round. One commentator amongst the five finalists will be declared the winner and will earn the title of Pepsi Voice of Pakistan Cricket 2022.

The winner will be invited to the HBL PSL 7 final at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on February 27 and will get an opportunity to commentate on the final.
