Abu Dhabi Polo reached the semi-final of the Gold Cup 2022 following victory over Zedan Polo at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.
In the first quarter-final, both Abu Dhabi Polo and Zedan Polo teams displayed a defensive play and were goal-shy until the end of the second chukker.
Tomas Panelo for the Zedan Polo team scored the first goal of the game during the third chukker and, he closed it with a 2-goal lead for the team.
Abu Dhabi Polo made their mark in the game by scoring back-to-back goals during the fourth with a notable steal by Santiago Cernadas and shifted the lead on their side. The trend continued through the determining chukker with Jeronimo Del Carril extending Abu Dhabi Polo's lead. The game ended with a final score of 7 goals to 3.
The anticipated game between the Dubai Wolves by CAFU and Ghantoot Polo team opened with a penalty shot from Marcos (Cacu) Araya.
Habtoor Al Habtoor, the patron of the Dubai Wolves by CAFU, scored one for the team and the first chukker was tied at 2 goals. The next seven minutes had Ghantoot Polo extend their lead by 3 goals from Cacu.
The team kept the advantage through halftime. The Wolves managed the uphill battle during the penultimate chukker as Carlos (Toly) Ulloa narrowed the gap in scores. He levelled the game at 7 goals early in the last chukker and the teams raced to grab the lead.
Alfredo Cappella's penalty shot had paved the way for the team's victory and finished by Toly as he capped the game 9 goals to 7.
