Fujairah’s growing stature as a regional hub for adventure sports and adrenaline-charged challenges will receive a further boost on March 19 when it hosts the international races of Spartan Trail Run and Tough Mudder.
Taking place at the state-of-the-art Fujairah Adventure Park, the event will be hosted as a mega event, combining the obstacles course event and the trail run race, with the participation of more than 1,500 participants from the UAE and various countries around the world.
To be held under the patronage of Sheikh Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the inaugural event will feature best-in-the-industry obstacles and challenges, while muddy obstacles await participants in the Tough Mudder, which is expected to test the participants’ physical strength and mental grit.
The details of the Spartan Trail run and Tough Mudder were announced during a press conference held at Fujairah Tennis and Country Club on Thursday, in the presence of Hamdan Karam Al Kaabi from Fujairah Holding, Amr Zain Eddin of Fujairah Adventure Park, Tariq Abdullah representing ABH Group, and Duncan Dewes, the regional director of the Tough Mudder global race.
Taking place at the state-of-the-art Fujairah Adventure Park, the event has attracted 1,500 participants from the UAE and various countries around the world.
Zeineddin expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah for the unlimited support, which contributes to Fujairah's being a distinguished global sporting and tourism destination, stressing that the organizing committee is working with all its energies to bring out the event in the best possible way.
He also thanked the main sponsors, who are: Fujairah Holding, APH Group, Discover Fujairah, the official tourism account of the Emirate of Fujairah, the National Bank of Fujairah, the Fujairah Free Zone, and the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation.
Kaabi said that choosing the Emirate of Fujairah to hold this event is because of its distinctive mountainous nature and its wonderful climate that make it a tourist destination and a suitable place for mountain sports and adventure tourism.
Tariq Abdullah added that Fujairah will be the fourth destination in which the race will be organized in the UAE, in addition to Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain, and that the organizing committee is looking forward to holding it annually in a way that contributes to the role of sport as the best way of life.
Duncan said that this global race that will be held in Fujairah will include the participation of more than 1,500 athletes, which will be held in the Fujairah Adventure Park, and that a combination of three races will be organized within this event, the main race of 10 km for professional athletes and international participants, while the 5 km race will be for all age groups and fitness levels. About 30% of participants will be female.
The sponsors of the event are Fujairah Free Zone, Oryx Mix, Fujairah National Resource, and National Bank of Fujairah.
The upcoming international event has also teamed up with Tennis and Country Club Fujairah, Fujairah Police Department, Civil Defence of Fujairah, Fujairah Municipality, Fujairah Civil Work and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Health to make this a remarkable one.
