Uzbek Grandmaster Nodirbek Yakubboev clinched the Blitz Championship title at the 27th edition of the Sharjah International Chess Championship on Saturday.
The Sharjah International Chess Championship was held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Yakubboev collected eight points after the completion of nine rounds with seven wins and two draws.
Moldavian Grandmaster Viorel Iordachescu finished second and another Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov came in third place. Philippines International Master Oliver Dimakiling took fourth spot.
200 players representing 31 countries took part in the championship organized by Sharjah Cultural Chess Club.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Omar Noman Al Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the club, Husan Turdialiev, Vice-President of the Uzbek Chess Federation and Director of the Tashkent International Chess Academy, Raja'i Al Sousi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Chess Cultural Club and large number of chess enthusiasts.
Sheikh Saud Bin Abdulaziz Almualla, President of the Arab Chess Federation and Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural & Chess Club, thanked the Ruler of Sharjah for his unwavering support to the club.

The Sharjah Ramadan International Chess Championship is one of the most important and oldest fast-paced chess tournaments in the world, and has attracted top Grandmasters and International Masters from all over the world.
