The Sharjah Women's Sports Club shooters clinched three medals at the 27th edition of the Al Dhaid Ramadan Championship, which concluded on Sunday.
The Al Dhaid Ramadan Championship, which began on April 12, was hosted and organized by Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, lasted six days.
Ten players representing Sharjah Women's Sports Club participated in the three different competitions of the championship. In total, 32 players from five clubs were in the fray.
Hitting the right target, Yasmine Tahlak bagged gold in the 10m air rifle category of the championship. Shurooq Al Ali lifted the second medal for Sharjah Women's Sports Club as she won silver in the same category.
Adding another medal to the club’s tally, Afra Omar won the bronze after settling for third place in the 10m-air pistol competition for the general category (juniors and women).
Yasmine expressed her delight at winning the gold medal in the Al Dhaid Ramadan Championship. She emphasized the significance of the achievement in light of the participation of many clubs in both the men and women's categories, which strengthened the tournament.
The gold medallist, Yasmine, noted that without the help of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation and all of the technical and administrative staff, none of this success would have been possible for her and other female shooters.
The karate players of the Sharjah Women's Sports Club also succeeded in adding two more medals as a part of their participation in the general league competition matches, which were held on Saturday and Sunday at the Sharjah Men’s Sports Club in Al Hazana.
A team consisting of Salama Jassim, Hamida Haji, and Mariam Mansour, won silver, while Shamma Al Kutbi, Salma Omran, and Renad Allam won bronze, taking third place in the Kata category.
