Repton School take top spot in swimming competition at Dubai School Games

The 2nd edition of Dubai Schools Games, launched by Dubai Sports Council, will continue up to next June. 

The tournament is organized by ESM Company and held under the sponsorship of GEMS Educational Schools Group.

The swimming competition of the tournament took place for two-days at Hamdan Sports Complex recently with participation of more than 870 male and female swimmers of different age groups, who competed in 28 challenges.

The Repton School gained 552 points and won first place in the general rank of preliminary schools, followed by GEMS Schools and Jumeirah Schools with 532 points.

The GEMS Wellington International Schools got first place in the general rank of secondary schools with 913 points.    

The padel tennis competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday at WBA Academy, while the basketball competition is scheduled from May 23-26 at Dubai Sports World.

The badminton and gymnastics competition will take place in June.

Participants in the 2nd edition of Dubai Schools Games compete in 13 sports competitions including basketball, padel tennis, people of determination games, gymnastics, badminton, golf, cricket, indoor cricket, swimming, tennis, rhythmic Gymnastics, chess and electronic games.

Dubai Schools Games Tournament is organized with massive participation of various schools. Participation in this tournament is free for all schools and students of multi-nationalities, different levels and categories and various ages from 9 to 19 years old.

Talent scouting programme is implemented in all sports competitions. Representatives from Dubai clubs attend the competitions to scout promising talents and follow their performance & progress.

The tournament is organized as part of DSC’s efforts to develop sport in the school sector, confirming the eminent role of schools to boost the sports movement in the Emirate, since schools are considered as the solid base of the sports pyramid, from where promising talents are scouted to support clubs and national teams.

School sports competitions are the preliminary step in scouting and boosting sports talents before moving to join clubs. 

DSC organizes this Tournament to increase the level of awareness in schools with the importance of the exercise of sport & physical activities in order to enhance physical & mental health and enjoy luxurious life.

The Tournament also cements relations between schools & clubs and increases the numbers of Dubai clubs’ associates via increasing the numbers of those who exercise sport in schools and scouting sports talents who contest tough school competitions, held with participation male & female students of various ages & multi-nationalities. Clubs catch this opportunity to scout the best talents in various sports games. 

The tournament provides a unique opportunity for all school students to show their talents & sports abilities. Sports files are created for each player who participates in the Tournament, so that he can utilize this file when he moves to the university stage or when he joins a sports club in the future.
