The Sharjah Women's Sports Club players have proved their mettle by representing national teams in a variety of sports at different levels, as demonstrated by their recent participation in the third Gulf Games held in Kuwait.
The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s players achieved remarkable success in athletics competitions by winning 8 medals, including two gold, two silver, and four bronze.
They made their mark in sprints, jumping, disc throw, and hammer throw, in addition to relay races.
Seven players from the club who represented the UAE at the Gulf Games were Fatima Al Hosani, Latifa Al Kaabi, Fatima Al Balushi, Mahra Abdul Rahim, Abeer Al Balushi, Mira Al Mazmi, and Wedad Robari.
Sharjah Women's Sports Club’s Yazia Al Suwaidi and Amal Bin Haider were part of the UAE’s basketball (3x3) team. Their superb performance delivered the first gold for the nation in the basketball competition at the Games.
Hind Al Hosani, Deputy General Manager of Sharjah Women's Sports Club, stressed that the achievements made by our athletes in the colours of UAE national teams is part of the club’s commitment to prepare female players to represent their homeland in major sports events.
She noted that the unwavering support of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation, was instrumental in achieving these results.
"We are happy that these players are from our Sharjah Women's Sports Club sports teams, and we are proud of them and their achievements, which have always been associated with the UAE name, and we affirm our full confidence in them that they still have more to offer during their sporting career; and we even stand with them side by side to achieve the desired goals that enhance the level of women's sport both in Sharjah particularly and the country in general," Hind added
