The Indian cricket team has suffered a big blow with a report saying that head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19. The Indian cricket board (BCCI) said Rahul Dravid returned a positive result after a routine test for coronavirus.
Rahul Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and has mild symptoms, said a BCCI statement.
The head coach will join the team once he returns with a negative coronavirus report, the Indian cricket board said. Dravid did not travel to Zimbabwe for the recently-concluded One-day International (ODI) series, which the KL Rahul-led side won 3-0.
India are scheduled to open their campaign in the Asia Cup against Pakistan on Sunday and would like to avenge the 10-wicket loss against Babar Azam's side in the ICC T20 World Cup last year. The Indian squad, led by Rohit Sharma, are due to arrive in the UAE today (Tuesday).
