As a way to encourage female students to participate in sports and local activities, the Community Sports Section at Sharjah Women’s Sports organised an inter-university volleyball competition on Tuesday.
Aimed at creating a spirit of competition among the female students, the Volleyball Challenge witnessed the participation of six universities.
The event was held at the headquarters of Sharjah Women’s Sports with students of Al Qasimia University (A), Al Qasimia University (B), University of Sharjah, UAE University, American University of Sharjah, and American University of Dubai battling for the top honours.
The American University of Dubai team clinched the top spot, and the American University of Sharjah finished as runners-up, while third place went to the Al Qasimia University A team.
During the volleyball challenge, teams displayed strong performances with a high level of competition. The teams were split into two groups, and the winners of each group advanced to the semi-finals before the final, which decided the outcome of the event.
