Viktor Axelsen, Danish badminton world champion and Brand Ambassador of Yonex, the world leader in golf, tennis and badminton equipment visited Silicon Central, Dubai's latest lifestyle and shopping destination to meet and greet the fans.
Axelsen signed autographs for fans and played few round with badminton players while giving tips to them.
The event, which is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30, was held in collaboration with the UAE Badminton Federation and Dubai Sports Council, with different badminton academies and players attending.
Axelsen took the opportunity to promote badminton as a sport, an active lifestyle and promoted the Yonex badminton equipment in Dubai, which is exclusively available across all Lulu Hypermarkets in the UAE.
Reigning world and Olympic champion Axelsen recently clinched the men's singles title at the French Open 2022 badminton tournament after beating fellow Dane Rasmus Gemke.
With this win, Axelsen became the most successful player on the men's world tour, overtaking Japan's Kento Momota with 16 wins in 21 finals compared to Momota's 15 from 21.
The Olympic champion also has plans to defend his title at the next Paris Games 2024.
"I think when you attempt to win an Olympic gold medal once, you also want to win it twice,” he said.
Paris is in the Dane's plans – but in his own words, he's going to "take it easy" over the next two years.
