Russia’s Pavlov reign supreme at World Chess Solving Championship in Fujairah

Adding another title to its kitty, Russian Grandmaster Danila Pavlov won the World Chess Solving Championship in Fujairah on Wednesday.

Pavlov, who also took the Open Championship crown, finished on top at the 45th World Chess Solving Championship, being hosted by Fujairah Chess and Culture Club at the Novotel Hotel.

The World Chess Solving Championship was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, with the participation of 650 players from different countries around the world.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Saleh Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi also attended the final round of the championship and praised the organizing committee. He also congratulated the successful players.

Pavlov maintained his supremacy in the individual competition. His compatriot Ural Khasanov finished second, while Martynas Limontas came third.

Omar Noman Al Ali finished first among the UAE players competing in the tournament, followed by Ammar Al Sidrani, Omran Al Hosani, Rawda Al Serkal, Mohammed Saeed Al Yalili, Ali Abdul Aziz, and Khalifa Khalid.

Poland won the team’s competition. Second place went to Serbia, and Germany settled for third place.

Dr Adbulla AAL Barakat, president of Fujairah Chess and Culture Club and chairman of the organising committee, expressed delight over the success of the 45th World Chess Solving Championship which took place in the UAE for the first time.

He congratulated the winners and commended the UAE players, who stood out in a distinctive way despite the high level of competition. Dr. Barakat also praised the efforts of the working committee.
