The French newspaper “La Parisien” revealed that the 2022 World Cup champion, Argentine Lionel Messi, decided to stay at his current club, Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona wanted to restore his legend, who left them two seasons ago for Paris, but it seems that the economic problem he is suffering from is preventing him from concluding a big deal.
La Parisien said, "Messi gave his word to Saint-Germain during the World Cup, and he will remain in the French capital for at least one season."
The newspaper added that Messi's family is happy in Paris and is used to life there, so this aspect is very important in renewing the legend's contract.
Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer, and his brilliance came with his club this season and then in the World Cup, which crowned him with the Best Player award, to confirm his ability to give despite reaching the age of 35.
Messi scored twice in the game with PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe grabbing a hat-trick for France.
