The Organizing Committee of NAS Sports Tournament has opened registrations for the 10th edition of the Tournament, taking place at Nad Al-Sheba Sports Complex during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Participants taking part in the upcoming edition of the much-anticipated Ramadan tournament will compete in eight sports disciplines including volleyball, padel tennis, jiu-jitsu, archery, fencing, wheelchair basketball, running and cycling.
The NAS Sports Tournament is being organised annually as per the directives and the generous support of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of the Executive Council.
The organizing committee of the tournament is holding meetings continuously, chaired by Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council along with Naser Aman Al Rahma, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Hassan Al-Mazrouei, Tournament’s Manager and members of the organizing committee.
The members who attended the meeting were Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Attar, and Captain Nasser Mohammed Al Ketbi, representative of Dubai Police. The Executive Committee is headed by Saleh Al-Marzouqi. Ali Omar joined him as Deputy Head of the Committee and other two members including Khalid Al Awar and Adel Al-Bannai.
Registration for teams participating in the volleyball competition will continue up to Thursday.
Each team is allowed to register a maximum of 14 players and 10 players minimum. Players’ age should be 18 years old or above, on the date of the launch of the competition.
Each team is allowed to register a maximum of 12 expatriates and two locals minimum. It is not allowed to add new players to the team’s list after the deadline. In case of injuries to one or more players, substitution can be made from the team’s registered members only.
Participating teams will be categorized into two groups, each group comprises four teams. Matches in the groups stage will be played as per the one–round league system. The first two teams from each group will qualify to the semi-final stage.
Registration for the 10 km, 5 km & 4 km running competitions will continue up to April 3. Participation in this competition is open for locals & expatriates besides international runners. Contestants will compete in various categories; these are: open category for men & women / community category for male & female locals / elderly male & female locals and expatriates (50 years old & above) / juniors category, which is allocated for male & female youth of 13 & 14 years old and male & female juniors of 11 & 12 years old.
The competition will be managed as per the rules & regulations applicable by the UAE Athletics Federation.
Registration for the 77 km cycling competition will continue until March 25. Participation is allowed for all locals & expatriates who participate in official races in UAE & overseas from the age of 18 years old & above. Contestants will compete in various categories; as follows: open category for men & women / local amateurs of both genders who are recruited in teams & clubs / community category for male & female local who are not recruited in clubs & teams besides teams of Dubai Police, armed forces & civil defense / elderly male & female locals and expatriates (50 years old & above) / people of determination (Road bikes and hand bikes) and blinds.
One of the highlights of the NAS Ramadan Tournament is Padel tennis. Registration for the padel event will end on March 19. Contestants will compete in local and international categories. The local categories comprise the 10-point classification category for men and women / the open classification category 100 points / the Emirati and expatriates’ category 200 points / juniors category – U 16. The international categories include golden category & international national team category.
