Delivering dazzling performances, the Sharjah Women's Sports Club athletes achieved outstanding results by winning 29 medals to finish on top at the Federation Cup Athletics Championship, organized by the UAE Athletics Federation at the Al Thiqah Club for Disabled.
The 29 medals won by the Sharjah Women's Sports Club’s athletics team included 21 gold, five silver, and three bronze, which were enough to crown them champions in the women's category.
Jouri Hussein, Dana Hussein, Sarah Rubari, Salama Mohammed, Alia Abdul Alim, Shouq Al Balushi, Amira Abdul Aleem, Nouf Al Balushi, and Mahra Al Khazraji were part of the junior team.
Noor Ahmed, Hessa Al Balushi, Hamsa Mohammed, Farida Saeed, and Kenya Sarah Munyang represented the club in the young women's category, while Fatima Al Balushi, Mahra Abdul Rahim, Fatima Khalil, Fatima Al Hosani, Jawaher Al Mazmi, and Maryam Al Balushi were part of the seniors’ team.
The team consisting of Maryam Al Balushi, Mahra Abdul Rahim, Fatima Al Balushi, and Fatima Khalil, won gold in the 4x100-meter relay.
Alia Abdul Alim bagged gold in the 600-meter race, Shouq Al Balushi claimed silver in the 600-meter race, and Nina Violet clinched gold in the 800-meter race.
Jasmine Sophia took gold in the shot put, and Kenya Sara finished on top in the 200-meter race to bag gold.
Hamsa Mohammed secured gold in the long jump, and Mahra Abdul Rahim won gold in the 400-meter hurdles.
Fatima Al Balushi bagged gold in the 200-meter race; Jouri Hussein added another medal to the tally by winning silver in the 150-meter race; and Shouq Al Balushi took silver in the 1000m.
Amira Abdulaleem claimed gold in the 1000m, Mahra Al Khazraji pocketed bronze in the 50m, Farida Saeed took gold in the javelin throw, and Jawaher Al Mazmi claimed gold in the athletics competition for the women's category.
Belqis Al Shehhi, head of individual games at the Sharjah Women's Sports Club, expressed her delight over the club's athletics team's success in the Federation Cup Championship.
She praised the players' contributions as well as the work of the technical, administrative, and medical staff.
Belqis credited the outstanding results to perfect teamwork and cooperation between the players, coaches, technical, administrative, and medical staff.
She also hailed Sharjah Women's Sports’ approach and vision, which strive to pave the way for ensuring players attain greater heights.
Galina Brigadnaya, coach of the Sharjah Women's Sports Club team, expressed her joy at the club's players’ achievements at the Federation Cup for Athletics.
She emphasized that the team worked hard before and during the tournament. She also praised the support that the team receives from the club's stakeholders.
