Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club will organize Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Cup in Al Ramtha.
The Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Cup will be held under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council and in cooperation with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Palms Sports and Team Nogueira Club.
The Sharjah Cup for Jiu-Jitsu, along with the Sharjah Government Workers Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the Sharjah White Belt Jiu-Jitsu Festival, the Kalba Beach Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and most recently the Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Challenge Championship, is the club's fifth Jiu-Jitsu competition.
The Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Cup, marking the launch of club activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan, will take place on Saturday.
Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club, said: “The organization of the jiu-jitsu contests enhanced the standard of the sport throughout the emirate, widened the range of collaboration with the sponsors, and held in identifying new talents who are later can be included to the club's jiu-jitsu teams.
Participants from different clubs of the UAE will take part in the Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Cup.
“Registration is free for the participants. Each team will consist of five players including three national players and two resident players.
“Sharjah Jiu-Jitsu Cup is putting special focus on under 12 and under 10 year’s players as we are giving more attention to identify skills among young age players.
“With the Sharjah Club for Self-Defense Sports winning multiple titles and medals in the early age championships, emphasis is being paid to young ages to find capabilities, including natural talents which can support the national teams,” he added.
