Over 500 athletes representing 16 countries are in the fray at the Asian Armwrestling Championship, which kicked off in Ajman.
The prestigious championship is organized by the Asian Armwrestling Federation in cooperation with the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and takes place at the Bahi Ajman Place hotel. The event will continue until May 4.
The championship comprises the 21st edition of the Asian Armwrestling Championship and the Asian Para-Armwrestling Championship.
Karim Al-Andari, President of the Arab Armwrestling Federation and President of the Asian Wrestling Federation, and Faisal Obaid Ahmed Al Zaabi, board member of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, attended the opening day of the competitions.

Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Marri, Secretary-General of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, welcomed the participants and delegations. He wished them success in the championship.
He stressed that all things are in place to make the championship a great success, including the complete support given to the Asian Armwrestling Federation and participating teams.
Zaabi said the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, under whose auspices the event is taking place, is keen to contribute to the success of all championships and will be keen on the success of the Asian Championship.
"Kazakhstan has the maximum number of athletes, including 250 male and female players who are competing in different categories," he added.
He explained that the technical meeting that preceded the launch of the competitions and after conducting the weighing process was successful by all standards, which contributed to reaching full readiness.
