Gulf Today Report
Fans in cricket-mad India are breaking all ceilings just to grab a ticket to watch high voltage World Cup match between India and Pakistan on Oct.14 in Ahmedabad.
The soaring demand for tickets can just be gauged by the fact that the tickets during the primary ticket sale was a complete sellout within only one hour on Aug.29 and Sept.3.
However tickets are available on Viagogo, an online sports ticket platform, but according to some media reports, the platform has set a price of Rs2.1m for a South Premium East 3 section.
The tickets for the upper tier of the stadium which offers an unobstructed view has been listed at a mind-boggling Rs5.7m each.
Cricket lovers took to social media to slam the exorbitant cost of tickets on online platforms.
One user urged "concerned authorities to jump in and do justice."
Another user wrote “No one treats there fans as bad as @BCCI @JayShah does all they care is giving tickets to sponsors and that all tickets would be selling in black market in 50X it's price.
Yet another user asked BCCI as to how can 3rd party website can sell WC tickets in black.
